About the Role

Our client, WhatJobs Direct, is actively seeking a highly skilled and vigilant Senior Cybersecurity Analyst to join their dedicated security team based in Upington, Northern Cape . This on-site position is crucial for safeguarding the company's digital assets and infrastructure against evolving cyber threats. You will be responsible for monitoring security systems, investigating incidents, implementing security controls, and developing proactive defense strategies. This role requires a deep understanding of cybersecurity principles, threat intelligence, incident response, and risk management. As a senior member of the team, you will play a key role in guiding security operations, mentoring junior analysts, and contributing to the overall security posture of the organization. Key Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts and events from various sources (SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls, endpoints).
• Investigate security incidents, conduct forensic analysis, and recommend remediation actions.
• Develop and implement security policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Perform vulnerability assessments and penetration testing.
• Manage and configure security tools and technologies.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and attack vectors.
• Develop and deliver security awareness training to employees.
• Collaborate with IT teams to ensure security is integrated into system design and operations.
• Respond to and manage security breaches in accordance with incident response plans.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of the company's overall cybersecurity strategy.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, security operations, or incident response.
• Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001), and best practices.
• Experience with SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, QRadar, ArcSight).
• Familiarity with network security concepts, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and VPNs.
• Experience with endpoint security solutions (antivirus, EDR).
• Understanding of vulnerability management and penetration testing methodologies.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Strong communication and reporting skills.
• Relevant cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or GSEC are highly desirable.
• Must be willing to work on-site in Upington, Northern Cape .
