Job summary

The Morgridge Institute for Research seeks a Research Cyberinfrastructure Manager to provide technical oversight for the development team in Research Computing, guiding RSEs on large-scale data management and national cyberinfrastructure projects.

The role focuses on day-to-day leadership of Pelican Platform development, mentoring engineers, shaping roadmaps, and collaborating with NSF-funded programs such as PATh, FabAID, and related HTCondor workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Math/Physics or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• 5+ years in software engineering; 3+ years in leadership or senior technical roles.
• Experience leading or coordinating technical teams.
• Experience with research computing environments (batch, cloud, or HTC/HPC).
• Strong background in distributed systems design and programming.
• Experience with GitHub/JIRA workflows.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for a team of four RSEs delivering Pelican Platform software.
• Define technical roadmaps and prioritize development work.
• Oversee project delivery using Jira and GitHub; communicate status to stakeholders.
• Enforce modern software engineering practices including testing, code reviews, and CI/CD.
• Coordinate with integration and operations teams for releases.
• Engage with external partners and the wider cyberinfrastructure community.
