Wilson Elser is seeking a Senior Cyber Incident Response Attorney to lead complex cybersecurity and data privacy matters. This fully remote role welcomes applicants nationwide and offers the chance to work with top-tier clients across industries.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years of legal experience, strong data breach and privacy expertise, and a track record of managing incident response teams while ensuring regulatory compliance and strategic risk mitigation.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school is required.
• Bar admission in good standing is required.
• 8+ years legal experience.
• 5+ years of data privacy and security, focusing on data breach and incident response.
• Strong knowledge of HIPAA, GLBA, FERPA, CCPA, GDPR, etc.
• IT or technical background is a plus.
• Some litigation experience is a plus.
• Excellent research, writing, and communication skills (Lexis and Westlaw).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Team player.

Responsibilities

• Incident response for cybersecurity and data privacy incidents.
• Lead response to clients and carriers; oversee breach response work by Associates.
• Interact with senior management and technical personnel at client companies.
• Analyze state, federal, and international privacy laws.
• Draft breach notification letters to individuals and regulators.
• Respond to regulatory investigations arising from data breaches.
• Defend privacy lawsuits and draft policies under HIPAA, GLBA, CCPA, GDPR.
• Triaging data breaches and advising on incident response end-to-end.
• Oversee forensics investigations and third-party vendors for e-Discovery.
• Draft reports to insurance carriers and clients; prepare legal budgets.
• Supervise junior team members.
