Job summary

Alnylam Pharmaceuticals seeks an Associate Director (Staff Engineer) for Cyber Defense Platforms in Cambridge, MA. You will own the defense technology stack end-to-end, including SIEM, SOAR, EDR, DLP, email security, and anti-phishing, with detection content, automation, and tooling driving enterprise-wide protection.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive experience in security engineering, security operations, or detection engineering with ownership of defense platforms
• Deep hands-on expertise architecting SIEM, SOAR, EDR, or related protection technologies
• Strong software engineering skills in Python/Go/PowerShell for security automation
• Experience building and managing detection content at scale using MITRE ATT&CK
• Proven automation-driven improvements reducing response times or increasing capacity

Responsibilities

• Own deployment, configuration, and lifecycle of defense platforms (SIEM, SOAR, EDR, DLP, email security, phishing)
• Define platform roadmap; evaluate, deploy, integrate, and rationalize security technologies
• Engineer and maintain security data pipelines: onboarding, normalization, enrichment, retention, cost
• Own detection content lifecycle: development, testing, tuning, versioning, retirement
• Establish detection-as-code practices with CI/CD and automated validation
• Map coverage to MITRE ATT&CK; partner with threat intel, IR, and offensive security
• Design and build SOAR playbooks and workflow automation to speed triage
• Build internal tooling and APIs connecting security platforms to enterprise systems
• Set standards for defense technology; act as technical authority
• Lead cross-functional initiatives; mentor engineers and analysts
