Alnylam Pharmaceuticals, a leader in RNAi therapeutics, seeks an Associate Director, Cyber Defense – Staff Incident Responder. You will lead global incident response, forensics, and threat hunting in a highly technical, hands-on role within a hybrid Cambridge, MA environment.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Cyber Defense, you will drive detection improvements, tooling, automation, and scalable response capabilities, shaping how the company detects and responds to advanced threats.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on incident response, digital forensics, threat hunting, or security operations in enterprise environments (including cloud).
• Deep investigative expertise across endpoint, cloud, network, and identity domains with multi-source telemetry correlation.
• Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, Go, PowerShell, Bash) to support scalable workflows.
• Ability to independently lead complex investigations and make high-confidence decisions under pressure.
• Familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK and industry incident response frameworks (NIST, CISA).
• Proven impact improving detection and response through tooling, processes, or programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex cyber investigations and incident response across global environments.
• Perform advanced forensic analysis and proactive threat hunting to identify attacker behavior.
• Translate findings into scalable improvements in detection, telemetry, and response.
• Develop incident response playbooks and containment strategies based on real threats.
• Improve response speed via detection engineering, alert tuning, and automation.
• Build and evolve incident response tooling, scripts, and integrations.
• Lead post-incident analysis and produce actionable remediation reports.
• Partner cross-functionally to drive enterprise-wide risk reduction and hardening.
