Job summary

Alnylam Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in Cambridge, MA is seeking an Associate Director, Cyber Defense – Staff Incident Responder to lead complex investigations and drive proactive threat hunting across a global environment.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Cyber Defense, you will conduct advanced forensics, develop scalable response playbooks, and mentor junior responders while coordinating across enterprise teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in incident response, forensics, threat hunting, or security operations in enterprise settings.
• Deep investigative expertise across endpoint, cloud, network, and identity domains.
• Strong scripting and automation skills to support investigations.
• Experience with MITRE ATT&CK and real-world IR frameworks (NIST/CISA).

Responsibilities

• Lead complex cyber investigations and incident response across global environments, driving end-to-end containment, eradication, and recovery
• Perform advanced forensic analysis and proactive threat hunting to identify attacker behavior, persistence mechanisms, and lateral movement
• Translate investigation findings into scalable improvements in detection coverage, telemetry, and response effectiveness
• Develop and enhance incident response playbooks and workflows
• Improve response speed through detection engineering, alert tuning, automation
• Build and evolve incident response tooling and integrations
• Lead post-incident analysis and produce actionable reports
• Partner cross-functionally to drive remediation and risk reduction
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior responders
