Job summary

SpaceX in Washington, DC is seeking a Sr. Cybersecurity Engineer to develop and continually test defenses for the Starshield network. This hands-on role requires breadth across software and security, with a focus on rapid threat response and vulnerability discovery.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in cybersecurity for production systems and can communicate complex concepts to nontechnical audiences. A Top Secret clearance is required or pursued post-hire.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer security, or a similar field with 5+ years in cybersecurity for active production systems; or 7+ years in cybersecurity.
• Experience in implementing systems for adversary detection and incident response.

Responsibilities

• Be prepared for immediate response to active threats against systems.
• Implement Starshield cyber defense strategy and develop countermeasures.
• Conduct red-team style exercises to discover vulnerabilities and practice incident response tactics.
• Lead vulnerability discovery efforts and accelerate bug fixing using the latest tools, including AI.
• Collaborate with engineers implementing security features and with teams developing incident discovery tools.
