Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector II to inspect structural steel, pipe, and fabricated assemblies, witnessing welder qualification tests and reviewing WPS/PQR documents. You will direct NDT, write inspection and nonconformance reports, and sign off inspections relied upon by the engineer of record and building official; travel to shops and field sites is common.

Required: current AWS CWI with 2+ years inspecting; knowledge of AWS D1.1 and at least one of

Qualifications

• Current AWS CWI with 2+ years inspecting under it.
• Working knowledge of AWS D1.1 and at least one of D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104.
• ICC structural steel and bolting certification preferred (sponsored if not held).

Responsibilities

• Perform and sign visual weld inspection with accept/reject authority to the governing code.
• Review WPS, PQR, and welder qualification records; witness tests.
• Direct and interpret nondestructive testing; write inspection reports and nonconformance reports.
• Inspect fabrication shops and field erection, including high-strength bolting and base plate grouting where certified.
