Job summary

illumicell AI is building a digital holographic microscope for automated semen analysis. We seek a Senior Computer Vision and ML Engineer to tackle challenging imaging problems and deliver tested, production-quality software.

You will lead from detection to cloud integration, mentor teammates, and shape end-to-end ML system development in a regulated medical-device context. This role offers remote US candidates and growth into senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Production experience with vision or image-processing systems.
• Strong Python and PyTorch experience.
• Rigorous experimental practices in datasets and metrics.
• Experience with testing, version control, and documentation.
• Ability to work from incomplete specifications and deliver results.

Responsibilities

• Take technical responsibility for computer vision capabilities from problem definition through evaluation as a tested product component.
• Develop, train, and deploy models for sperm detection, tracking, and image-quality assessment using PyTorch.
• Design evaluation systems with disjoint data splits, versioned artifacts, and clinically relevant metrics.
• Choose between classical processing and deep learning based on measured results.
• Define annotation requirements and ground-truth standards with clinical collaborators.
• Carry models through GPU profiling, batch inference optimization, and deployment.
• Contribute to device acquisition software and cloud data handling when needed.
• Establish repeatable training workflows with versioned configs and traceable results.
