Job summary

illumicell AI seeks a Senior Computer Vision and Machine Learning Engineer to own the path from imaging challenges to tested software in a medical-device context. You will join a small team focused on detection, tracking, and quality assessment for live semen analysis imagery.

The role combines depth in image processing with breadth to contribute to device acquisition, cloud data handling, and batch inference. Collaboration with a developing ML engineer and clinical partners is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience shipping computer-vision or image-processing systems in production or clinical settings.
• Strong Python skills with PyTorch production experience.
• Sound experimental practice: dataset splitting, metrics, ablations, reproducibility.
• Software engineering fundamentals: typed interfaces, testing, VCS, docs.
• Ability to work from incomplete goals and define measurable steps.
• History of delivering difficult technical work through integration and review.

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for computer vision capabilities from problem definition to evaluation as a product component.
• Develop, train, and deploy models for sperm detection, multi-object tracking, and motility measurement.
• Design evaluation systems with disjoint datasets, versioned artifacts, and error analysis.
• Choose between classical image processing and deep learning based on results.
• Define annotation requirements and collaborate with clinicians to build training data.
• Carry models through GPU profiling, batch inference, code review, testing, and deployment.
• Contribute to device acquisition software and device-to-cloud data handling when prioritized.
• Establish repeatable training workflows with versioned configs and provenance.
• Use automation to speed implementation, testing, and documentation with traceability.
• Review ML experiments and provide technical guidance to the team.
