Job summary

Advanced Space is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer with 5–8 years of experience to develop ML-driven capabilities for spacecraft missions, autonomy, navigation, and mission planning.

You will own technically complex projects from problem formulation through deployment, applying deep learning, probabilistic modeling, optimization, and RL to solve aerospace challenges.

Remote/hybrid collaboration across disciplines is common; strong Python and ML framework skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
• 5–8 years of professional ML/engineering experience; ownership from problem formulation to deployment.
• Proficiency in Python and modern software practices (version control, testing, debugging, profiling).
• Experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow; model development and deployment workflows.

Responsibilities

• Develop ML solutions for complex engineering challenges in space missions.
• Translate needs into defined ML problems with evaluation plans and criteria.
• Design, implement, and maintain ML-enabled capabilities for mission planning, autonomy, and navigation.
• Own projects end-to-end from concept to deployment and operational handoff.
• Build reproducible ML workflows with data validation, experiment tracking, and versioning.
• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to integrate ML into aerospace systems.
• Survey and apply emerging ML techniques suitable for aerospace applications.
