People Freight is seeking a Senior Customs Entry Writer in Atlanta, GA, to manage the end-to-end U.S. customs entry process. The role requires strong FTZ experience, HTS classification, and meticulous documentation to ensure CBP compliance and timely clearance.

The candidate will work with clients, CBP, carriers, and internal teams, handling ACE filings and maintaining accurate records while staying current on regulatory changes.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of U.S. Customs brokerage/entry writing experience.
• Strong experience preparing and filing U.S. Customs entries.
• Hands-on FTZ specialist experience is required.
• Strong knowledge of HTS classification, customs regulations and import compliance.
• Experience working with ACE.
• Strong understanding of customs documentation and entry procedures.
• Experience in international freight forwarding or customs brokerage.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and process formal and informal U.S. Customs entries accurately and efficiently.
• Handle the full customs entry process, from document review through clearance.
• Review commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading and other import documentation.
• Classify merchandise using the HTSUS and determine applicable duties, fees and tariffs.
• Submit and manage ACE entries and electronic filings.
• Ensure compliance with CBP regulations, PGA requirements and import procedures.
• Handle Foreign-Trade Zone (FTZ) entries and transactions.
• Work closely with clients, CBP, carriers, freight forwarders and internal teams to resolve entry issues.
• Monitor shipments and ensure customs entries are processed within required timeframes.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies, holds, exams and other customs-related issues.
• Maintain accurate customs records and documentation.
• Stay current with changes to customs regulations, tariffs and import requirements.
• Provide guidance and support to less-experienced members of the customs team.
