Job summary

University of Washington’s UW-IT seeks a Critical Environment Engineer to ensure the operational integrity of CES, including computing, storage and network infrastructure. The role leads internal projects and may represent DCSO on external efforts, with on-call rotations and travel to UW data centers.

You will monitor facilities, optimize space, power, and cooling, and develop monitoring systems to provide performance metrics and real-time alerts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or related field or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years in critical environmental systems maintenance and management.
• Experience with data centers or similar support systems.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to plan in constrained space, power, and cooling environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily checks on data center facilities using BMS.
• Act as SME for Data Center Research Projects and coordinate staffing.
• Develop basis of design for major renovations and construction projects.
• Create facility site profiles including electrical and HVAC details.
• Manage data center-related projects and provide design solutions for layouts.
