Morningstar DBRS is seeking a Senior Analyst to join its Private Corporate Credit team in Chicago. You will analyze financial data, perform leverage finance research, and develop models and tools to transform data into actionable insights for investment professionals.

You will collaborate with senior analysts, build charts and reports, and contribute to rating discussions as you gain more responsibility in credit analysis and surveillance. Strong Excel, Python, and SQL skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of relevant experience in financial data analytics, quantitative research, corporate credit analysis, levered finance.
• Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business, data analytics; CFA progress a plus.
• Strong financial & quantitative analytical skills with financial statements and large datasets.
• Experience with time-series and cross-sectional analysis; applies quantitative methods to markets and credit research.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel; strong Python and SQL for financial data analysis, manipulation, and reporting.
• Familiarity with Tableau is a plus; experience with AI platforms (Copilot/Claude) preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication; proactive, detail-oriented, multitask in fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Source, validate, organize, and analyze financial and economic data to support leveraged finance research.
• Design, develop, and maintain data structures and analytical tools using Excel, Python, SQL, and other platforms.
• Develop charts, tables, and data visualizations for high-quality research and publications.
• Apply time-series and cross-sectional methods to identify trends in markets and credit research.
• Assist in credit analysis and ongoing surveillance of a portfolio of highly leveraged companies.
• Prepare rating committee materials and develop credit recommendations.
• Build relationships with market participants to support market intelligence.
• Help manage a broad portfolio of credits and improve analytical workflows.
