Job summary

Popular is seeking a seasoned Commercial Lender to join our Commercial Banking team in New York. You will generate business relationships and manage credit and non-credit relationships with commercial customers, corporate accounts and prospects while delivering high-quality service aligned with bank goals to drive growth and profitability.

The role emphasizes developing a commercial portfolio, regular client visits, loan package preparation, and negotiating terms.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial credit with an established portfolio of Commercial customers.
• Effective sales ability and persuasiveness.

Responsibilities

• Develop a commercial customer portfolio with emphasis on deposits and loans.
• Visit clients and prospects, interview and analyze financial structures, and recommend products or services.
• Compile loan packages and negotiate loan terms with applicants.
• Analyze applicant financial status and credit to determine feasibility of granting loans.
• Review and analyze commercial loan reports and ensure timely closing and funding.
• Build trust with clients and uncover their needs, educating them on bank products.
