Job summary

Capital One is seeking an Appraiser III (Senior Commercial Real Estate Appraiser) to provide technical oversight, quality control, and compliance for commercial real estate appraisal reports across the bank. The role involves advisory support to CRE lenders, mentoring staff, maintaining the appraiser vendor list, and stepping in for leadership in absence of the Valuations Director.

The position is hybrid, with on-site requirements at the designated Capital One office.

Qualifications

At least 6 years of professional real estate appraisal or valuation review experience.
Strong knowledge of USPAP, FIRREA, and federal banking regulations governing real estate collateral.
Experience evaluating complex commercial property types and market analysis models.

Responsibilities

Appraisal Review & Quality Assurance: review completed appraisals for accuracy, methodology, and compliance with bank policy and regulatory guidelines.
Advisory & Portfolio Support: assist CRE lenders with pre-approval analysis of prospective loans and collateral.
Vendor Management & Compliance: onboard and maintain an active panel of independent appraisers, ensuring credentialing and references.
Leadership & Departmental Operations: mentor junior appraisers and oversee workflow tracking to ensure timely reports.
