Job summary

Guilford County Government seeks a County Risk Manager to lead the risk management program, oversee claims, and ensure regulatory compliance across OSHA and ADA. The role reports to the County Attorney’s Office and collaborates with internal departments and external brokers.

The ideal candidate will manage workers’ compensation processes, analyze risks, and develop preventative strategies while coordinating with third-party administrators and legal counsel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, or a closely related field.
• Four years of professional experience developing and administering risk management programs including property and liability.
• Knowledge of OSHA/ADA regulations and claims management.
• Ability to lead a small department and collaborate with multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight for Guilford County’s risk management program and claims.
• Oversee insurance procurement, coverage, premiums, and risk financing strategies.
• Collaborate on business continuity planning with Emergency Management and others.
• Review contractor and vendor insurance documents and indemnification clauses.
• Administer workers’ compensation and return-to-work programs; manage claims processes.
• Coordinate with County Attorney’s Office on litigated claims and settlements.
