Baltimore County Government seeks an experienced Assistant County Attorney III – Litigation to support the Office of Law. The role involves civil litigation for the County in Circuit and District Courts, and in the U.S.

District Court for the District of Maryland, plus handling appellate proceedings and complex legal documents. Under supervision of the County Attorney or designee, you will also engage in negotiations with unions, advise county executives, and represent the County in

Qualifications

• ABA-accredited law degree required.
• Admission to the Maryland Bar required.
• 7–9 years of post-law school experience in trial work, legal writing, and/or municipal law before Circuit and District courts.

Responsibilities

• Litigate civil matters for Baltimore County in state and federal courts.
• Handle civil appeals and prepare records and briefs for appellate courts.
• Conduct legal research and draft briefs, memos, and discovery tools.
• Represent the County in administrative proceedings and negotiations with unions.
• Draft contracts, deeds, leases, and other non-litigation documents.
• Oversee workers’ compensation matters and settlements.
