Job summary

Middlebury College is seeking a Senior Counselor to provide psychological counseling and crisis intervention for students and the campus community, with an administrative portfolio including outreach, clinical, and programmatic responsibilities in the Center for Health and Wellness. Qualifications

  • Master's degree required in counseling, psychology, social work or related clinical field.
  • Licensure in Vermont or eligibility to obtain licensure.

Responsibilities

  • Provides psychological counseling and crisis intervention for students and campus community.
  • Organizes and implements outreach activities (group programs, workshops, trainings).
  • Builds relationships with campus partners to foster collaboration and reduce stigma.
  • Facilitates trainings for students and employees across disciplines.
  • Completes timely documentation in the EHR according to policies.

Senior Counselor

In addition to short-term counseling, crisis intervention, and mental health outreach services to enhance the psychological and emotional well-being of students and the College community, the Senior Counselor is responsible for an administrative portfolio including outreach, clinical, and programmatic responsibilities in an inclusive, collaborative, and integrated Center for Health and Wellness.

This is a full-time, benefits eligible, salaried position with a hiring range of $77,215 - $89,867 perhour.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Providespsychological counseling and crisis intervention for students,implements appropriate assessments and clinical interventions, andprovides consultation to Staff Counselors as neededOrganize andimplements Counseling's outreach activities including: groupprogramming, workshop series, trainings to achieve Counseling'soutreach goals.Assesses,builds, and maintains relationships with campus partners to fostercollaboration, reduce mental health stigma, and increasehelp/service seeking amongst studentsFacilitatesskills and process trainings for students and employees includingcross-discipline trainings led by Center for Health and WellnessstaffCompletestimely documentation in the EHR according to best practices andCounseling policiesSupports theDirector, and Associate Directors with identifying and addressingissues related to risk, referrals, confidentiality, and crisismanagementParticipatesin Counselor on-call rotationProvidespre-licensure intern and/or student worker supervision asassigned
Requirements
  • Clinicalexperience in assessment, treatment planning, shareddecision-making, and crisis responseDemonstratedsuccess in outreach, group programs, or other therapeuticmodalities outside of one-on-one therapyDemonstrateduse of multicultural approaches to clinical care and proven recordof successful work with clients and stakeholders from diversecultural and educational backgroundsCommitment toaddressing intersections of multiple identities and their relatedhealth outcomesSuccessfulcollaboration with clinical and administrative staff to supportstudent successStrongknowledge of the social, psychological, and physical developmentalstages of students5 years ofexperienceMaster'sdegree required in counseling, psychology, social work or relatedclinical field with current, or eligible to obtain, Vermontlicensure
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
  • Regularlyoperates a computer and other office productivity tools. Regularlymoves about inside the office andrequiresregular cross-campus and cross-towntravel.Schedule flexibility is requiredincluding occasionalearly mornings, evenings, weekends,and holidays to attend events and facilitate programming according tothe academiccalendar.
