Qualifications

• JD required from an accredited law school.
• 10+ years of experience in specialized areas of law including technology matters, clinical research, IP, data protection, and healthcare compliance.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, analyze, and negotiate research-related agreements including sponsored research, IP and technology contracts, and data-sharing agreements.
• Provide strategic guidance on ongoing basic and translational research relationships, including regulatory, IP, publication, confidentiality, export-control, and risk considerations.
• Advise investigators and leadership on federal and institutional research compliance rules and sponsor requirements.
• Support internal policies on conflict-of-interest management, research security, and sponsor requirements, coordinating with NIH and other agencies.
• Partner with the TDIE team to support IP protection, ownership, licensing, and background IP considerations.
• Provide legal support to cross-functional teams and committees, and negotiate solutions to complex research-related legal issues.
• Assist in training on sponsored research compliance, data-use terms, IP provisions, confidentiality, publication rights, and research-security obligations.
• Advise on IP ownership, publication rights, data ownership and protection provisions, and risk allocation terms in research agreements.
• Maintain contract templates and guidance that integrate IP, data-use, sponsor compliance, publication, and risk positions.
• Prepare materials for staff and leadership on research compliance and contracting matters; participate in risk management and on-call duties as needed.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
