Blackbaud is seeking a Senior Counsel, Payments & Fintech to guide legal strategy for our payments businesses and international operations. Remote anywhere in the USA, you will advise on complex regulatory issues, draft critical agreements, and enable safe cross-border payments.

You will partner with product, engineering, finance and treasury to balance commercial goals with risk, including AI-powered tools and emerging technologies. Must have JD and active U.S. bar license.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant legal experience including payments/fintech or regulated tech environments.
• Juris Doctor degree and active U.S. state bar admission in good standing.
• Experience advising on complex payment products, regulatory matters across multiple jurisdictions.

Responsibilities

• Serve as senior legal adviser to Blackbaud’s payments businesses, guiding product design and market expansion.
• Draft and negotiate complex agreements with payment processors, banks, networks, and tech providers.
• Advise on payment regulations, AML, sanctions, consumer protection and cross-border funds flow.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Finance, Treasury, Risk and Compliance to design scalable compliance.

We’re looking for an experienced payments lawyer to provide practical, strategic legal guidance across our payments businesses and international financial operations. As a trusted adviser to senior leaders across Product, Engineering, Finance, Treasury, Risk and Compliance, you’ll help Blackbaud expand payment capabilities, manage complex regulatory requirements and support secure movement of funds across borders.
