Job summary

Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus, OH is seeking a Senior Counsel to join the in‑house legal team, primarily supporting the National Security Business Unit. The role requires extensive government contracting experience, deep FAR/DFAR knowledge, and an active TS clearance (or ability to obtain).

The position offers a flexible hybrid schedule with remote options and reports to the Deputy General Counsel, Applied Science & Technology.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree; licensed to practice law in the U.S. (preferably Ohio).
• 5+ years of contracting/subcontracting experience in U.S. Government programs at a national law firm or in‑house counsel.
• Expert knowledge of FAR/DFAR and agency acquisition regulations.

Responsibilities

• Counsel internal clients on legal matters for Battelle’s National Security Business Unit.
• Support procurement, subcontracting, and risk/data rights issues.
• Provide practical, timely legal advice and train others where needed.
