Job summary

AECOM is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to lead negotiation, drafting and interpretation of complex IT and commercial contracts. The role supports multiple corporate functions and cross-border agreements, with remote work options within the US.

The successful candidate will guide procurement, IT, finance and HR contracts, balancing business needs with risk and compliance. Requirements include a JD from an accredited school and at least 9 years of experience in commercial law, including IT

Qualifications

• Juris doctorate from an accredited law school and at least 9 years of commercial and transactional law experience.
• Experience supporting IT and digital transformation including AI, software licensing, and SaaS agreements.
• Experience managing internal attorneys.
• Strong analytical, interpersonal, drafting, negotiation and written/verbal communication skills.
• Excellent judgment with ability to balance priorities and meet deadlines.
• Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail.
• Proven ability to lead transactions and projects.
• Proactively identify and resolve problems.
• Ability to work in a highly confidential environment with ethics and integrity.
• Member in good standing with State Bar of their residence.

Responsibilities

• Drafting, negotiating and interpreting key commercial contracts supporting a variety of corporate functions, including IT, finance, travel and human resources; includes master services, AI, software licenses, SaaS.
• Negotiate contractual language with third party vendors and counsel to develop creative solutions.
• Managing internal attorney(s) responsible for negotiating, drafting and interpreting contracts.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams throughout contract review with procurement, law and business operations.
• Establishing and maintaining ownership of agreement processes, controls and standard forms.
• Working with internal leaders to establish positions on key terms and risk allocations.
• Providing rapid, practical contract advice directly to business clients.
