Job summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced Assistant General Counsel to negotiate and draft complex IT and commercial contracts, including AI, software licensing and SaaS agreements. This role supports a global corporate function and leads cross‑functional contract teams.

The successful candidate will manage internal attorneys, advise on risk, and work with business clients to deliver practical solutions in a remote US setting.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school with at least 9 years of commercial/transactional experience
• Experience supporting IT and digital transformation, including AI terms, software licensing, and SaaS agreements
• Experience managing internal attorneys and cross-functional teams
• Strong analytical, interpersonal, drafting, negotiation and written/verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Draft, negotiate and interpret key commercial contracts across IT, finance, travel and HR; include master services agreements, AI, software licensing, SaaS docs
• Negotiate contractual language with third parties and counsel to develop solutions
• Lead and manage internal attorneys responsible for contract work
• Collaborate with procurement and corporate teams during review processes across functions
• Establish and maintain ownership of agreement processes, controls and standard forms
• Work with corporate leaders to set positions on key terms and risk allocations
• Provide rapid, business-oriented contract advice to business clients
