Job summary

Transamerica is seeking an experienced attorney to join its Protection Solutions and Savings & Investments teams, primarily supporting Employee Benefits products and ERISA matters. This role emphasizes regulatory compliance, contract review, and market guidance.

Hybrid work, with three days in office at core locations; remote options available. Ideal candidates bring ABA JD, bar admission, and at least five years’ experience in insurance regulatory law.

Qualifications

• JD from ABA accredited law school and active bar membership are required.
• Experience in sophisticated law firms or in-house with insurance regulatory focus is preferred.
• Strong written and oral communication skills for diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal guidance on life insurance products and services for Employee Benefits.
• Review and negotiate contracts including marketing, distribution, and vendor agreements.
• Address regulatory challenges such as ERISA preemption and state insurance issues.
• Advise on legal risks and escalated claims and consumer complaints.
• Monitor changes in insurance laws and regulations and advise accordingly.
• Collaborate with compliance teams to implement risk-mitigating policies.
• Assist Life Insurance division as needed and draft regulatory responses.
