Job summary

The Travelers Indemnity Company is seeking a Senior Counsel to manage a high-exposure caseload in insurance defense litigation. You will independently handle complex matters, leveraging extensive trial experience to advocate for clients and deliver favorable outcomes.

Ideal candidates possess a Juris Doctorate, active license in good standing, and a strong track record in jury trials, with leadership experience mentoring junior staff and collaborating across teams.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of insurance defense litigation experience as a practicing attorney.
• Strong aptitude for trying cases to a jury with a track record of successful courtroom outcomes.
• Advanced advocacy skills in oral & written matters with appellate experience beneficial.
• In-depth knowledge of local bench, bar and jurisdictional practices.
• Proven leadership through mentoring and collaboration to deliver exceptional client service.

Responsibilities

• Independently handle a caseload of higher exposure cases and complex litigation matters.
• Leverage trial experience to try cases to verdict or negotiate resolutions.
• Conduct advanced legal research and produce persuasive pleadings, motions and briefs.
• Attend court events, depositions and other proceedings.
• Provide case analysis and strategic recommendations to insured clients and partners.
