Job summary

Voya Investment Management is seeking an experienced attorney to join its Legal Department supporting its institutional asset management business. This role partners with portfolio managers, product teams, client onboarding, and business leaders to provide legal support across the platform.

This position requires a solid background in institutional asset management, private and public markets, and the regulatory frameworks governing asset managers.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing.
• Approximately 6–12 years of relevant legal experience, gained at a leading law firm, in-house legal department, or a combination of both.
• Substantive experience with institutional asset management, including exposure to asset classes and client types.
• Experience with insurance asset management and related regulatory considerations.
• Strong drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines.
• Excellent judgment and communication, and the ability to convey complex concepts to business partners.
• Collaborative, team-oriented approach across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Support investment advisory activities across a variety of platforms (insurance general accounts, private funds, CITs, managed accounts, funds, pensions).
• Support strategic investment transactions from due diligence through closing.
• Advise portfolio management on insurance balance sheet investing regulatory considerations.
• Draft, review, and negotiate investment management and related agreements.
• Coordinate with outside counsel on transactional and regulatory matters.
• Support regulatory and compliance matters for the asset management platform.
• Partner with Compliance and Risk Management to mitigate legal risks.
• Assist with regulatory examinations and inquiries as required.
• Collaborate with Legal, Compliance and business teams on cross-functional projects.
