Job summary

Nationwide seeks a Senior Counsel with deep E&S knowledge to guide business and regulatory strategies, focusing on Programs and delegated authority. You will partner with business leaders to navigate complex insurance and regulatory issues across multiple lines and regions.

The role requires a licensed attorney with 15+ years of relevant experience, strong negotiation and leadership skills, and the ability to lead, coach and influence senior stakeholders. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Licensed attorney in good standing in applicable states.
• 15+ years of relevant legal experience with expertise in Excess & Surplus (E&S) insurance.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice on high-risk or complex matters within E&S and delegated authority.
• Draft legal documents and develop risk mitigation recommendations.
• Interact with senior leaders and influence company decision-making.
• Lead cross-functional projects and advise on regulatory and contractual issues.
• Manage outside counsel budgets and provide coaching to legal staff.
