Columbia Bank seeks an experienced in-house employment attorney to advise on legal issues, strategies, and compliance. The role involves coordinating with HR, drafting policies, and appearing as counsel of record when needed.

The candidate will stay current on regulatory developments, support litigation risk management, and serve as a liaison with outside counsel. A broad corporate law understanding is preferred.

Qualifications

• Provides legal support and strategic advice to financial institutions or similarly regulated industries.
• Must stay abreast of federal/state regulations and case law affecting employment activities.
• Experience in termination, employee relations issues, and litigation strategy is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide interpretations and recommendations on legal issues to management and internal clients.
• Identify and communicate potential legal issues and help mitigate risk and avoid litigation.
• Advise HR and bank managers on employee relations issues.
• Oversee (with outside counsel when applicable) active and threatened litigation arising from employee relations.
