The Colorado Judicial Department seeks a Senior Assistant General Counsel to serve as in-house counsel for judges, court executives and probation officers. You will provide legal advice, draft memoranda and briefs, and handle employment and personnel matters under state and federal law.

Applicants should have a law degree, Colorado Bar admission, and at least five years of practice, including employment law.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited law school (JD).
• Active license to practice law before Colorado courts.
• Five years of experience practicing in the field of law, including employment law or related areas.

Responsabilités

• Serve as in-house legal counsel for judges, court executives, chief probation officers and other Judicial Department personnel.
• Provide technical legal advice to managers, supervisors and personnel to minimize legal liability.
• Conduct complex legal research and interpret applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
• Draft and prepare memoranda and briefs across civil, criminal, HR, domestic, probate, and contract areas (intergovernmental agreements & MOUs).
• Advise clients on legal aspects of administrative and operational issues.
• Represent administrative authorities in employment disciplinary proceedings when needed.
• Develop or update training materials on legal issues for Judicial Department personnel.
• Participate in internal committees and workgroups; attend meetings and trainings.
