Job Description Summary

The Senior Commercial Counsel for Digital Technology/Information Technology (DT/IT) procurement provides ongoing legal advice and support to business leaders across GE Aerospace. This role can be remote within the US.

Job Description

You will be part of the Legal and Compliance team, a dynamic group of commercial and legal professionals serving as internal subject matter experts on legal matters. The ideal candidate is a business-oriented attorney experienced in digital technology agreements, capable of working effectively across all organizational levels, and collaborating with legal and cross-functional teams to draft and negotiate a wide array of agreements, with a focus on DT/IT procurement.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice related to digital technology agreements, including structuring, interpreting, negotiating complex deals, and advising on procurement supporting commercial or U.S. government operations.
  • Assist legal and non-legal colleagues on legal and business issues.
  • Oversee audits, address emerging risks, and implement strategies to mitigate business risks.
  • Develop solutions for legal and business issues and growth initiatives.
  • Manage referrals to in-house specialists and outside counsel as needed.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
  • Member in good standing with the State Bar.
  • At least 7 years of experience as a practicing attorney, with a focus on technology.
  • Experience negotiating technology procurement agreements, including software licenses, SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, telecom, and hardware agreements.
  • Proficiency in negotiating global data privacy laws, cybersecurity standards (ISO, NIST), and intellectual property considerations.
  • Strong understanding of market terms in technology agreements.
  • Ability to structure, interpret, and negotiate complex deals and advise on legal and commercial risks.

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to influence and collaborate across teams.
  • Ability to develop process-driven solutions and handle multiple inquiries under pressure.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating complex agreements.

The salary range is $187,500 - $265,000 annually, with potential bonuses. Benefits include health coverage, retirement plans, tuition and adoption assistance, paid parental leave, and more. This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information; final offers depend on obtaining necessary authorizations.
