The Weather Company is seeking a Senior Counsel – Data & Media to act as a strategic legal partner for the Enterprise Data and Media units, reporting to the Deputy General Counsel. The role focuses on drafting and negotiating complex data and software licenses, supporting data commercialization, and guiding privacy and governance in a hybrid, Atlanta-based environment.

Ideal candidates bring 8+ years of legal experience (5+ in-house), strong technology industry knowledge, B2B deal

Qualifications

8+ years of legal experience with at least 5 years in-house.
Experience handling data licensing, software licensing, and data governance.
Licensed to practice law in the USA and in good standing.
Strong negotiation, advising, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

Provide strategic legal counsel to Enterprise Data and Media business units.
Draft, review, and negotiate complex data licensing and software licensing agreements.
Support data commercialization strategies, data rights, and privacy governance.
Develop contracting templates and playbooks for recurring deal structures.
Manage relationships with outside counsel and legal service providers.
Assist product and engineering teams in software development for applications.
Address marketing legal reviews and regulatory considerations.
