Job summary

The Weather Company seeks a Senior Counsel – Data & Media to partner with Enterprise Data and Media teams in a hybrid, Atlanta-based role. You will draft and negotiate complex data licensing and software agreements, guide data privacy and governance, and support commercial objectives with legal risk management.

A JD and 8+ years’ experience, including 5+ in-house, are required. The successful candidate will manage external counsel, contribute to go-to-market data initiatives, and advise on data

Qualifications

• 8+ years of legal experience; 5+ years in-house.
• JD from an accredited law school is required.
• Must be licensed to practice law in the USA and in good standing.
• Extensive knowledge of the technology industry, including data licensing and product development.
• Strong negotiation, risk assessment, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic legal advice to Enterprise Data and Media teams as a mini-GC for these units.
• Draft and negotiate complex data licensing agreements, inbound/outbound data licenses, and data-as-a-service arrangements.
• Structure and negotiate software licensing, hosted services, and technology platform access terms.
• Advise on data commercialization strategies, data rights, usage restrictions, and downstream licensing terms.
• Manage vendor, customer, and strategic partnerships within the Enterprise Data and Media portfolio.
• Develop and maintain standard contracting templates and playbooks for recurring deals.
• Support data privacy and governance initiatives, including privacy implications of licensing and enterprise products.
• Assist with marketing legal review.
• Oversee relationships with outside counsel and other service providers.
• Provide flexible, scalable legal support across shifting priorities.
