Job summary

American Express is seeking a Manager & Counsel to support the U.S. Consumer Lending Team within the General Counsel’s Organization.

You will provide legal advice on consumer lending, pricing, and regulatory initiatives, partnering with Compliance and Government Affairs to manage risks and drive business results. Ideal candidates have a J.D., admission to New York in good standing, and at least four years of relevant experience in law firms or in-house corporate settings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and J.D. required.
• Admission to practice law in New York in good standing.
• 4+ years of relevant work experience in a law firm and/or in-house corporate legal environment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary business lawyer and strategic advisor to consumer lending and pricing teams.
• Advise on new products, features, issue resolution, customer marketing, and communications.
• Navigate regulatory developments affecting consumer lending products.
• Provide legal advice for Consumer Credit Cards, Personal Loans, Pay Over Time, and Plan It lending features.
• Collaborate with Compliance, Privacy, Control Management, and Government Affairs.
• Share knowledge and participate in GCO-wide projects.
