Job summary

Senior Counsel – Development, Construction & Procurement serves as the primary legal advisor for Cedar’s development, construction, and procurement activities related to data center projects. You will lead drafting, negotiation, and management of sophisticated agreements and guide business leaders on risk, strategy, and execution.

Based in Arlington, VA or New York, NY, with site travel as needed, supporting the lifecycle from site acquisition to turnover and operational readiness while

Qualifications

• 7–10 years of relevant legal experience in development, construction, procurement or sophisticated commercial contracts.
• JD from an accredited law school and active state bar admission.
• Ability to independently draft and negotiate complex agreements.
• Strong understanding of energy, power constraints, engineering requirements, and technical specifications.

Responsibilities

• Advise Development, Construction, Engineering, Procurement, Commissioning, and Operations teams on legal matters within the scope of this role.
• Draft, review, and negotiate construction, design, procurement, equipment, and vendor agreements.
• Support site acquisition, entitlements, and development-related legal work throughout the lifecycle from pre-construction to turnover.
• Manage disputes, claims, risk, and vendor performance in coordination with outside counsel and risk management.
• Develop and maintain contracting templates, playbooks, and standard terms to enable efficient project execution.
