A leading global engineering and construction organization seeks a Senior Counsel to support its Americas legal team. This high-impact role focuses on transactional and contentious matters across large-scale design, engineering, construction, and EPC projects.

Qualifications

  • J.D. required; active bar in good standing (U.S. jurisdiction)
  • 5+ years of legal experience with construction/EPC focus
  • Experience drafting and negotiating complex construction and commercial agreements
  • Background that may include law firm and in-house experience
  • Strong business acumen with pragmatic, solutions-oriented mindset
  • Excellent communication and ability to influence senior stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements (EPC, construction, design, subcontractor, vendor)
  • Advise internal stakeholders on legal, risk, and compliance matters
  • Partner with business leaders to provide practical legal guidance
  • Manage disputes with outside counsel and insurers (claims, mediations, arbitrations, litigation)
  • Provide counsel on labor and employment issues and disputes
  • Support corporate governance, regulatory compliance, insurance, and enterprise risk initiatives
  • Collaborate with HR, Compliance, and other teams on policy interpretation
  • Handle inquiries involving government agencies (labor/employment regulators, workplace safety)
  • Contribute to M&A, financing, and other strategic transactions
  • Advise on emerging issues in technology, software, and IP as needed

I’m currently partnering with a leading global engineering and construction organization to identify a Senior Counsel to join its Americas legal team. This is a high-impact, strategic role supporting complex project delivery across large-scale design, engineering, construction, and EPC environments.

This opportunity is ideal for a seasoned attorney who thrives in a fast-paced, business-facing role and enjoys advising on both transactional and contentious matters.

The Opportunity

In this role, you’ll sit within a collaborative, high-performing legal team and work closely with executive and operational leadership. The position offers significant exposure to sophisticated, high-value projects and the opportunity to act as a true business partner across multiple functions.

You’ll play a critical role in supporting project execution, managing risk, and influencing key commercial outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with business leaders to provide practical, solutions-oriented legal guidance
  • Manage and resolve disputes, including claims, mediations, arbitrations, and litigation, in coordination with outside counsel and insurers
  • Provide counsel on labor and employment-related issues and disputes
  • Support corporate governance, regulatory compliance, insurance matters, and enterprise risk initiatives
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with HR, Compliance, and other teams on policy interpretation and legal requirements
  • Handle inquiries and matters involving government agencies (e.g., labor and employment regulators, workplace safety, etc.)
  • Contribute to M&A, financing, and other strategic transactions
  • Advise on a range of additional matters including emerging issues in technology, software, and IP, as needed
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • J.D. required; active bar membership in good standing (Texas or another U.S. jurisdiction)
  • 5+ years of legal experience, with a strong focus on construction and/or EPC projects
  • Demonstrated experience drafting and negotiating complex construction and commercial agreements
  • Background that may include both law firm and in-house experience is highly valued
  • Strong business acumen with a pragmatic, solutions-oriented mindset
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence senior stakeholders
  • Proactive, intellectually curious, and comfortable operating in a dynamic environment
