Job summary

Mason Companies is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to provide broad legal advice across contracts, regulatory compliance and risk management. The role reports to the Vice President and General Counsel and supports policy development, investigations and interactions with outside counsel.

The ideal candidate has a JD, active US bar admission and at least 5 years of relevant experience, including contracts and compliance. Wisconsin/Minnesota bar preferred; Wisconsin residency is advantageous.

Qualifications

• JD required and bar admission in good standing
• Minimum 5 years of legal experience
• Wisconsin or Minnesota bar preferred
• Must reside in the United States
• Experience with contracts, compliance and risk programs
• Knowledge of federal banking, consumer protection or related laws preferred
• Mix of in-house and law firm experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide broad legal advice on contracts, transactions, marketing, risk, employment and compliance
• Support and enhance the company’s compliance program
• Develop policies and training for compliance across departments
• Interact with outside counsel to ensure cost-effective, high-quality services
• Prepare, file and renew regulatory applications and notices
• Assist with investigations, audits and remediation efforts
• Partner with GC on governance, regulatory compliance and risk strategies
