Job summary

The Cigna Group is seeking a Counsel, Commercial Transactions to provide enterprise-wide legal support for U.S. and global contracting activities, focusing on procurement, technology, and vendor management.

The role reports to the Associate Chief Counsel, Enterprise Corporate Law. Responsibilities include drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements, advising on risk and compliance, and leading contract governance initiatives across a matrixed organization.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) required.
• Active license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 5+ years of experience negotiating and drafting commercial contracts, especially vendor, procurement, technology, consulting, and services transactions.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a broad range of commercial agreements with domestic and international suppliers.
• Partner with Procurement and business stakeholders to structure transactions.
• Advise clients on contract governance, risk allocation, and compliance requirements.
• Identify and assess legal/contractual risks in third‑party engagements.
• Support vendor dispute resolutions aligned with business objectives.
• Develop and maintain contract templates, playbooks, and standard provisions.
• Collaborate with global legal colleagues on international contracting matters.
