Job summary

Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) is seeking an experienced Counsel/Senior Counsel – Commercial to join our on-site legal team in Ellabell, GA. The role focuses on drafting, negotiating, and managing a wide range of contracts and transactional policies, while advising on compliance and governance across domestic and international matters.

The candidate will support procurement, antitrust, privacy, cyber security, IP, and ESG initiatives, with considerable interaction with executives

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor Degree from an ABA-accredited Law School.
• Active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
• 5+ years of job-related experience for Counsel; 10+ years for Senior Counsel; experience in contract drafting, negotiation, management, litigation, arbitration, and mediation for corporations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and provide clear, practical legal advice in real time.
• Attention to detail, problem solving, visioning and guidance, and leading by example.
• Prompt, regular attendance.
• Occasional Domestic / International travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate, review, draft and advise company on contracts including purchase, equipment, construction, and other general business support contracts.
• Oversee contract management system and enforce related policies and procedures.
• Provide strategic legal advice and counsel on day-to-day issues to ensure compliance with Georgia and federal law and international context including trade, antitrust, privacy/cyber security, construction, governance and ESG.
• Support Procurement Division on supply chain management initiatives.
• Assist with drafting transactional policies and procedures.
• Conduct investigations, audits, and training to mitigate legal risk and promote best practices.
• Research legal issues relating to transactional responsibility areas.
• Track and report developments in the law on transactional responsibilities.
• Assist General Counsel with government affairs and compliance updates.
• Draft memoranda to executives on legal topics.
• Work with other Legal Department sections on investigations, compliance, litigation, arbitration, and mediation.
• Supervise and assist with process service and subpoena responses.
• Display exemplary ethical behavior and protect confidential information.
• Administer and comply with all BMS, EMS, and SMS requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the General Counsel.
