Job Title: Senior Cost Report Analyst
Location: Springfield, Mo. (Remote option available)
Department: Finance
Employment Type: Full-time
Shift: Monday - Friday 8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M.

Job Summary:

The incumbent is responsible for performing high level analysis and preparing cost reports ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with regulatory requirements. This role involves evaluating costs incurred, resources utilized, and providing detailed reports to assist management in decision-making regarding cost management and efficiency improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and certify cost reports for Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), ensuring they are accurate, complete, and comply with applicable instructions and regulations.
  • Strategically partner with various departments, including finance, HR, and operations, to gather necessary data and ensure accurate reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and guidelines, including reviewing and adjusting costs based on federal allowable cost guidance.
  • Prepare periodic cost report analysis and ensure that accounting procedures are adequate and functional. Report cost analysis results to management for decision-making and control.
  • Record and manage wrap accruals for FQHC departments, including dental and other services.
  • Research and prepare variance analysis and explanations. Analyze costs incurred and resources utilized for operations within the organization.
  • Provide recommendations for Finance and Operational leadership on process improvements.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to succeed individually and in a team environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Understanding of GAAP accounting processes, procedures, and internal controls.

Experience and/or Education Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • Familiarity with federal cost principles and guidelines required.
  • Five years of accounting or finance experience.
  • Two years of accounting experience in a cost accounts department or similar role required.
  • Experience with cost report preparation and analysis in a healthcare or similar industry required.

Employment Requirements:

  • Successful completion of background check including criminal record, driving record, abuse/neglect, and fingerprint check.
  • Completion of New Hire Orientation at the beginning of employment.
  • All training requirements including Relias at the beginning of employment and annually thereafter.
  • Current driver’s license, acceptable driving record and current auto insurance.

Physical Requirements:

ADA Consideration - Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (exists up the 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (exists 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, or pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Repetitive movements of hands, fingers, and arms for typing and/or writing during work shift.

Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
