Job Description

Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Senior Cost Manager and/or Quantity Surveyor to serve as the primary, day-to-day client interface, ensuring client objectives are met through delivering a value-added cost management service.

Successful candidates will possess excellent communication skills and be comfortable in a client-facing role. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, driven, and capable of working independently and as part of a team. This key position involves providing leadership, embedding the company's purpose, values, and vision.

Responsibilities:

• Estimate and negotiate change orders throughout the construction lifecycle.
• Provide cost estimates and planning, including producing and presenting final cost plans.
• Review and collaborate with design teams and general contractors on cost estimates.
• Reconcile changes and assist general contractors to ensure data accuracy.
• Communicate with general contractors and project managers to gather status information and update cost estimates.
• Prepare comments on contractor submissions, including executive summaries.
• Coordinate cost information sources for discussions and with suppliers.
• Inform and influence engineering priorities based on cost impacts.
• Work proactively with minimal supervision to resolve scheduling issues.
• Manage cost checks and valuations on larger projects, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Participate in post-contract cost variance and change control processes.
• Manage contingency, cost impact, and commitment tracking logs.
• Prepare funding presentations and facilitate value engineering sessions.
• Develop and update cost plans through design phases.
• Contribute to design optioneering and value engineering exercises.
• Review contractor and subcontractor pricing, leading negotiations to secure fair contracts.
• Perform quantity surveying, cost controls, and change management activities throughout projects.
• Ensure effective management of post-contract cost variances and change processes.
• Oversee cost auditing and valuation work, establishing robust validation processes.
• Produce monthly cost reports for clients.
• Negotiate and finalize final accounts promptly.
• Compile as-built cost records for benchmarking.
• Identify, coach, and mentor talent, celebrating successes.
• Exhibit leadership and service excellence in line with company standards.
• Utilize internal software for financial tracking and reporting.
• Implement and uphold internal systems and methodologies to ensure best practices.
• Promote a unified business culture that balances client, stakeholder, and societal outcomes.
• Adhere to SOX controls where applicable.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering, or related field.
• 5-7 years of relevant experience in a cost management role within the construction industry.
• RICS accreditation or working towards it.
• Experience managing costs on medium to large, complex construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction technical matters, procurement routes, value management, and engineering.
• Excellent communication skills.

Additional Information:

The salary range for this full-time role is $75K-$135K per year, depending on experience and qualifications. This range reflects base salary only and may vary.
