Job summary

Seattle City Light, a major municipally owned utility in Seattle, seeks a Senior Cost Accountant to maintain and analyze financial records for about $6 billion in utility plant assets and $400 million in annual capitalized additions.

Under limited supervision, you will prepare reconciliations, research accounting standards, and deliver cost data for management, collaborating with power generation, IT, engineering and administration to improve cost tracking and reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field with 3 years' professional experience in general or governmental accounting.
• Advanced knowledge of GAAP, GASB and FERC.
• Experience with PeopleSoft, WAMS, Excel; ability to create SQL, Excel, Tableau data pulls.
• Ability to work independently and in teams; strong interpersonal, verbal and writing skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accounting records in the general ledger and other financial systems.
• Prepare and analyze accounting/financial and investment data and reports.
• Record asset depreciation, retirements and related journals.
• Support grant cost reporting, accounting journals, and reimbursements.
• Prepare year-end depreciation reports and amortization for intangible assets.
• Deliver ad-hoc reports and performance metrics for management.
