Job summary

Ardent Mills is seeking a Sr. Cost Accountant to act as a technical SME for inventory valuation, commodity accounting, and manufacturing controls across facilities.

You will lead investigations, support process improvements, and mentor Cost Accountants while partnering with Operations and Finance. The role requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent, CPA/CMA preferred, and 6+ years of relevant experience in manufacturing accounting and multi-site operations.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of inventory valuation, manufacturing accounting, commodity accounting, and financial controls.
• Ability to interpret and evaluate transaction flows across ERP, MES and financial systems.
• Experience leading complex investigations, reconciliations, or process improvements.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to mentor and train less experienced accounting professionals.

Responsibilities

• Perform independent investigation and coordination of corrective actions for complex inventory and control issues.
• Serve as escalation point for cost accounting and ERP/MES concerns.
• Execute month‑end and year‑end close activities for assigned facilities.
• Analyze manufacturing variances and provide actionable recommendations.
• Oversee inventory audits, cycle counts, and regulatory reviews.
