Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with a strong focus on manufacturing cost accounting.
• CPA or CPA track in progress or completed.

Responsibilities

• Manage and analyze manufacturing cost accounting activities including inventory accounting.
• Perform standard costing and cost variance analysis.
• Review and maintain BOM and inventory reserves.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close related to inventory and cost accounting.
• Collaborate with operations and production teams to improve reporting and cost visibility.
• Assist budgeting, forecasting, and operational financial analysis.
• Support SAP ERP initiatives and related systems.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and reporting automation.

A rapidly growing manufacturing company in the San Marcos area is seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to join its accounting and finance team. This role will partner closely with the Controller and play a key role in strengthening inventory, cost accounting, and operational finance processes within a complex manufacturing environment.

This is a highly visible position for someone who enjoys digging into the details while also partnering cross-functionally with operations and leadership. The ideal candidate brings strong manufacturing cost accounting experience, systems proficiency, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and analyze manufacturing cost accounting activities including:
• Inventory accounting
• Standard costing
• Cost variance analysis
• BOM review and maintenance
• Inventory reserves and reconciliations
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes related to inventory and cost accounting
• Partner closely with operations, supply chain, and production teams to improve reporting and cost visibility
• Analyze manufacturing performance, margins, and operational trends
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and operational financial analysis
• Identify opportunities for process improvements, controls enhancement, and reporting automation
• Support ERP and systems-related initiatives within a highly integrated SAP environment
• Participate in ad hoc financial analysis and strategic projects as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with a strong focus on manufacturing cost accounting
• CPA or CPA track
• Deep understanding of:
• Inventory accounting
• Standard costing
• Operational finance
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment is required
• SAP experience is required and considered highly important for the role
• Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate effectively with operations and leadership teams
• Top tier public accounting background is required
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to move beyond transactional accounting into operational and financial analysis
