Job summary

Addison Group is seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to join our growing, employee-owned team delivering complex, project-based initiatives nationwide. The role focuses on job costing, revenue recognition, and detailed financial analysis for construction and engineering programs.

The successful candidate will partner with Project Managers and Finance leadership, lead cost-to-complete reviews, and help improve cost accounting processes while traveling to regional offices as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 5+ years of accounting or financial management experience, construction/project-based preferred.
  • Experience with revenue recognition and percentage-of-completion accounting.
  • Strong job costing, project financials, and variance analysis skills.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze project costs, budgets, and financial performance for accurate financial statements.
  • Perform job costing and variance analysis; identify trends and risks.
  • Prepare and review cost-to-complete/CAC reporting on a weekly basis.
  • Support revenue recognition and project forecasting activities.
  • Produce financial reporting for Finance and executives.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and operations to resolve costing issues.
  • Identify financial risks and communicate findings to Finance leadership.
  • Prepare backlog, budget, and other operational reports.
  • Assist with development and maintenance of cost accounting processes and systems.
  • Support internal audits and financial reviews; assist with bids and proposals.
  • Travel to regional offices for month-end reviews and training on procedures.

Work Schedule: On-site for the first 6 months; then hybrid (3 days in office / 2 days remote)

Compensation: $105,000 - $115,000 + ESOP

Our client, a rapidly growing employee-owned organization with a long-standing reputation for delivering complex, large-scale projects across the United States, is hiring a Senior Cost Accountant to join their growing team! This is an exciting opportunity to join a scaling company experiencing significant year-over-year growth.

This is not a traditional manufacturing cost accounting role. The ideal candidate will come from a construction, engineering, contracting, or other project-basedenvironmentand have strong experience with project accounting, job costing, revenue recognition, and financial analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze project costs, budgets, and financial performance to ensure accurate presentation in company financials
  • Perform job cost and variance analysis, identifying trends, risks, and areas requiring attention
  • Prepare and review cost-to-complete/CAC reporting on a weekly project basis
  • Support revenue recognition and project forecasting activities
  • Prepare revenue forecasts and financial reporting for Finance and executive leadership
  • Partner with Project Managers and operational leadership to resolve costing and accounting issues
  • Identify project financial risks and communicate findings to Finance management
  • Prepare backlog, budget, job cost, and other operational finance reports
  • Assist with development and maintenance of cost accounting processes, systems, and procedures
  • Support internal audits and financial reviews
  • Prepare financial information for bids, proposals, and other business initiatives
  • Travel periodically to regional offices to support operations, conduct month-end reviews, and provide training on financial procedures and systems
  • Mentor and support junior accounting team members
  • Assist with process improvement and implementation of financial systems and tools

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
  • 5+ years of relevant accounting or financial management experience
  • Construction/project-based accounting experience required
  • Experience with revenue recognition and percentage-of-completion accounting
  • Strong experience with job costing, project financials, and variance analysis
  • Experience preparing cost-to-complete/CAC reporting
  • Strong understanding of general accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with Oracle Fusion is preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with Project Managers, Finance leadership, and cross-functional operational teams
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities
