Job summary

Astera Labs seeks a Senior Tools Development Engineer to shape the COSMOS platform, building intuitive GUI and CLI tools that configure, monitor, debug, and validate products. You will bridge software, hardware, and systems engineering across C#, C, C++, and Python to improve developer productivity and customer success.

You’ll collaborate with firmware, hardware, and validation teams while delivering automation frameworks, test infrastructure, and modern tooling that accelerates product releases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Proficient in multiple languages: C#, C, C++, Python.
• Experience building modern object-oriented software and debugging complex problems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain COSMOS Explorer (GUI) and COSMOS CLI for configuring, monitoring, and debugging Astera Labs products.
• Develop desktop applications, command-line utilities, and automation tools using C#, C, C++, and Python.
• Build software that communicates with Astera Labs silicon for telemetry, diagnostics, validation, and configuration.
• Create reusable frameworks and utilities to boost engineering productivity and bring-up/debug workflows.
• Write automated tests and validation tools to improve software quality and speed up releases.
• Collaborate with firmware, hardware, and validation teams to define new platform capabilities.
