Job summary

Colonna's Shipyard in Norfolk, VA seeks a Lead Mechanic Supervisor – Corrosion Control to oversee skilled trades and ensure safe, efficient ship repair operations.

The role involves supervising corrosion control teams, coordinating daily production, reviewing drawings, and maintaining alignment with contract requirements. Occasional travel may be required; most work is onsite with potential after-hours support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or Registered Apprentice or HS with at least 6 years related trade experience.
• Ability to understand job specifications, drawings, and technical references.
• Able to work effectively with others.
• Reliable, flexible worker.

Responsibilities

• Execute routine and non-routine production duties to support goals.
• Perform skilled tasks in maintenance, repair, installation/removal, etc.
• Assist management to coordinate daily production activities and ensure safety.
• May assist with timekeeping validation, training, and performance coaching.
• Break down broader production needs into actionable plans for safety, quality, cost, and schedule.
• Make recommendations to support POD and efficiently use resources.
• Evaluate job sites for safe setups and efficient work evolutions.
• Lead day-to-day Corrosion Control staff supervision.
• 75-80% of time aboard ship or in the shop supervising staff.

Education

Bachelor's degree

HS + 6 years experience
