Job summary

Nextpower is seeking an experienced Corporate Counsel for Commercial Contacts to act as a strategic legal partner to our leadership. The role supports complex agreements, risk management, and hands-on governance in a fast-paced tech environment.

Based in Nashville, TN, Fremont, CA, or remote, the position requires a US bar license and 6–8 years of relevant experience. Competitive benefits and stock options may apply.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited Law School.
• Licensed to practice law in the United States and active membership in at least one state bar.
• Minimum of 6–8 years of legal experience; experience may include a combination of law firm and in-house roles.
• Experience advising executive clients on business and transactional matters (contracts, agreements, business strategy).
• Demonstrated leadership ability, preferably as a counsel for a technology-driven company.

Responsibilities

• Provide pragmatic, solutions-oriented counsel on complex commercial transactions.
• Draft and negotiate key agreements and ancillary contracts.
• Support and guide the legal commercial team and other internal business teams.
• Identify and implement process improvements and update internal playbooks and templates.
• Manage internal SLAs and balance priorities in a fast-moving environment.
• Own legal projects and develop subject matter expertise for customer contracts and internal partners.
• Review solicitations and strategize responses; draft sections on legal topics.
• Select and manage outside counsel when needed.
• Assist with complex or risk-sensitive terms and conditions, including liability limits and indemnification.
• Participate in Legal Department discussions on policies, procedures, and regulatory changes.
