Job summary

Precise Behavioral is seeking a high-caliber Controller in the Los Angeles area to build a scalable finance function across multiple entities and states. This role leads the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, oversees AP/AR, payroll, GL, and reconciliations, and partners with operations to improve cash flow visibility.

Ideal candidates bring 10-15+ years in healthcare accounting, CPA/MACC preferred, and experience in fast-growing PE-backed environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting; CPA and/or MACC preferred.
• 10-15+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
• Must reside in the Los Angeles, CA area.
• Controller or Assistant Controller experience in a fast-growing healthcare delivery business.
• Experience implementing or managing Sage Intacct accounting software preferred.
• Deep understanding of healthcare claims, reimbursement and Revenue Cycle Management.
• Multi-entity accounting and multi-state operations.
• Experience in Venture- or PE-backed healthcare organizations preferred.
• Familiarity with PC/MSO structures and provider organization accounting.
• Strong command of GAAP and healthcare accounting best practices.
• Experience with external audits and coordinating with third-party audit firms.
• Familiarity with multi-state tax compliance and healthcare-related tax considerations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close with a focus on speed, accuracy, and scalability.
• Oversee AP, AR, Payroll, General Ledger, reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries.
• Manage accounting within PC/MSO structures, including intercompany accounting and consolidation.
• Partner with operations and revenue cycle teams to improve visibility into collections and cash flow.
• Establish KPI-driven reporting and operational accountability across the organization.
• Coordinate and oversee external tax filings across multiple entities and jurisdictions.
• Coordinate the annual financial audit process with external auditors and prepare audit support.
• Support ongoing improvements of financial controls and processes for institutional-quality reporting.
