The role focuses on payroll processing, AP/AR, billing, GL, month-end close, and bank reconciliations while maintaining strict adherence to FAR and DCAA requirements. U.S. citizenship is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required or equivalent experience considered.
  • 3-5 years accounting experience.
  • Experience with Unanet or similar ERP in government contracting.
  • Experience with monthly close and journal entries.
  • U.S. Citizenship required due to defense and intelligence sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Semi-Monthly payroll processing for multiple entities (~180 employees).
  • Process vendor invoices; obtain approvals; ensure timely payments per policies and standards.
  • Post customer payments; reconcile discrepancies; manage AR aging.
  • Generate client invoices per contract terms and government regulations; track billable items.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts; document transactions.
  • Assist month-end/year-end close; prepare journal entries; ensure GL accuracy.
  • Ensure accounting activities comply with FAR, DCAA, and internal controls.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Senior Corporate Accountant to join our growing finance team. This role supports day-to-day accounting operations and helps ensure financial accuracy and compliance within a government contracting environment, particularly in the defense and intelligence sectors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Semi-Monthly Payroll: Support the HR and payroll team to process semi-monthly payroll run for multiple legal entities, for approximately 180 employees.
  • Accounts Payable (AP): Process vendor invoices, validate transactions, obtain appropriate approvals, and ensure timely payments. Maintain accurate AP records in compliance with internal policies and government standards.
  • Accounts Receivable (AR): Post customer payments, reconcile discrepancies, and manage AR aging reports to ensure timely collection and resolution of outstanding receivables.
  • Billing and Invoicing: Generate accurate client invoices in accordance with contract terms and government regulations. Ensure proper documentation and tracking of billable items.
  • Bank Reconciliations: Conduct monthly bank reconciliations, promptly investigating and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Balance Sheet Schedules: Maintain and reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts, ensuring that all transactions are properly recorded and documented.
  • General Ledger Support: Assist in month‑end and year‑end close processes. Prepare journal entries and help ensure the general ledger reflects accurate financial data.
  • Compliance: Ensure all accounting activities are conducted in accordance with federal regulations (FAR, DCAA) and internal controls specific to the government contracting industry.
Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • Equivalent relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience.
  • Prior experience working with Unanet or a similar ERP system is highly preferred.
  • Government contracting experience, particularly in the defense or intelligence sectors, is strongly desired.
  • Third party payroll system familiarity required (ADP, Paychex, or iSolved systems).
  • Experience with Monthly Close procedures and closing Journal Entries required.
Skills & Competencies
  • Proficiency with Unanet accounting software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
  • Solid understanding of compliance requirements related to federal contracting, including FAR and DCAA.

  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion with sensitive financial data.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a cross‑functional team.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required due to the nature of work in the defense and intelligence sectors.
